Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is the growth of breast tissue in men similar to that in women. Gynecomastia affects 50% of the male population. Because it makes men’s bodies more feminine, this has a significant negative impact on men’s mental health and can lead to loss of self-confidence.
What Causes Gynecomastia?
There may be several reasons of gynecomastia. The onset of gynecomastia can be because of hormonal imbalances and some commonly used medicines. Cirrhosis, medicine usage, and chronic kidney, thyroid and liver problems are some of the reasons of gynecomastia. Gynecomastia also occurs with the usage of steroids and similar drugs to lose weight and look more muscular. Additionally, it should be kept in mind that some types of direct male-type breast cancer or hormone-secreting cancer may also result in gynecomastia. Gynecomastia typically has an idiopathic cause, which means it cannot be identified.
